Woodman Point Egg pour a success

Woodies crew pour the base on the new ESD

The team working on the new Egg Shaped Digester at Woodman Point had been casting frowns towards the heavens and muttering as showers continued to delay the planned pour of the Egg base.

Requiring a 14 hour uninterrupted spell to pump in 420 cubic metres the team initially planned to have the task completed by August 19. However, persistent wet weather meant the teams couldn’t get all the necessary formwork in place or have confidence once underway, the pour could be abandoned.

To create the maximum strength in the Egg the pour has to be non-stop and as such the green light finally came on Wednesday 9 September.

Light showers caused some anxiety but the team managed to compete the pour by 5.30pm
