$147 million upgrade to the Beenyup Treatment Plant

The Beenyup Wastewater Treatment Plant services about 650,000 people and treats wastewater for northern suburbs from Quinns Rock to Scarborough and inland through Dianella to Midland.

The $147 million upgrade will see the plant’s operational capacity increased and the current high levels of odour management maintained. The upgrade is essential to ensure the plant continues to operate at a high standard and superior wastewater services delivered to the expanding northern suburbs community.

Stage One upgrade components

Wastewater treatment
  • Construct four secondary sedimentation tanks
  • Build three sludge thickeners
  • Construct two sludge digesters
  • Install sludge dewatering centrifuge
  • Build additional grit washer
  • Construct three primary sedimentation tanks
  • Construct an aeration tank.
Odour treatment for new infrastructure
  • Construct odour scrubber system
  • Install an enclosed sludge load-out facility
  • Install covers and odour duct work.
